What Happens During a Waxing Appointment
Check-in: your Alchemist asks about skin sensitivity, any concerns, and what you want covered before anything starts
Application: wax is applied in small sections and removed quickly, you'll always know what's coming next before it happens
Your control: for bikini and Brazilian services, you're in control of positioning and coverage throughout, and can ask to pause at any point
Finishing touches: your Alchemist checks the area, removes any stray hairs, and applies a soothing aftercare product
You'll be asked about any sensitivities or concerns at the start of your appointment. Your Alchemist uses this to set pace and pressure for the whole session.

What to Expect at Ruby Room
Ruby Room is a healing sanctuary, not a walk-in waxing chain. From the moment you arrive at 1743 W Division St, the environment is designed to shift your state: calm lighting, intentional scent, and a quietness that separates you from the pace of Chicago outside.
Your Alchemist will greet you, take a moment to connect before the appointment begins, and walk you through the treatment room. You're never rushed, and every step is explained before it happens.
Arrive 5 to 10 minutes before your appointment. Water and quiet space are available before and after your session.
Aftercare: Your First 24 to 48 Hours
- Avoid hot showers, saunas, steam rooms, and swimming pools for 24 hours. Heat and chlorine irritate freshly waxed skin
- Skip the gym or anything that causes heavy sweating for the rest of the day
- Avoid tight clothing over the treated area for 24 to 48 hours to prevent friction and ingrown hairs
- Starting day 2 or 3, gently exfoliate the area every other day to keep hair growing in finer and prevent ingrown hairs
- Keep the area moisturized with a fragrance-free lotion once any initial sensitivity has settled
- Skip sun exposure and tanning for 24 to 48 hours, freshly waxed skin burns more easily
